Why do I feel worse now I am in counselling?

During counselling, as we explore often painful or sad experiences, you may feel low or even exhausted after those sessions.

This does not mean that your sessions are making your situation worse - it means that you are working hard at building resilience and becoming the best version of yourself.

Similar to working out at the gym or having an exercise session - your muscles will ache and be sore for a day or two but you know it means those muscles are building resilience towards the next workout.

In Humanistic or Person-Centred Counselling your mind, body and soul are also building resilience towards the next round of set-backs or pain.

It is a process, a journey, and at the end you will hold everything within you that you need to live your best life.
